Community Greenhouse

Our community greenhouse serves to start seeds and grow heat loving plants for our gardens and the community. It is a 30' x 90' single wall "cold frame" (it currently has no supplemental heating, however we hope to heat it using compost in the future)

If you wish to start your own seeds at no cost, we have all the supplies for you to do so. Please just drop by during our open hours and bring the seeds you wish to start. We will water the seeds as needed to ensure the best germination rate.

History of the greenhouse

in 2022 Andrew Davis was contacted by a representative from the Stiliguamish Tribe of Indians and was offered the opportunity to disassemble greenhouses which were slated for demolition to make way for a new RV Park. Andrew accepted this offer and disassembled them with a team of volunteers. The greenhouse parts sat at Ovenell until the funds required to construct the greenhouse were raised during the 2025 Giving Tuesday event hosted by the Stanwood Camano Area Foundation (SCAF). The community contributed over $3000.00 towards its construction which went to purchasing concrete for the footings, hardware, and new foundation posts. The greenhouse was finally completed in February of 2026.
