Vivian Henderson

Vivian grew up in Stanwood. Following a career in health care administration and children’s services—including roles at DSHS and as a Disaster Assistance Auditor with FEMA—she returned to Stanwood and her farming roots in 2001.
She joined Puget Sound Public Farms Board of Directors during its first year to help vitalize Ovenell Park through community education, engagement and growing food for the underserved. She became President in 2025.
She has many years of experience supporting agricultural sustainability and small growers through initiatives like Harvest Jubilee (agri-tourism/direct marketing), establishing the Stanwood Farmers Market, Slow Food Port Susan, and co-founding the Northwest Asian Medicinal Herb Network.
Her earlier volunteer work includes serving on the Olympia Park Advisory Board, founding and presiding over the Olympia Downtown Youth Association, co-chairing the Women-Can-Do Committee first Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials, and leading the Olympia Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants.
Vivian’s formal education includes a Masters in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College and a BA in Sociology from the University of Washington.
